THE ANZAI GALLERYでは7月30日より盆栽プロデューサー、盆栽職人として活躍する小島鉄平氏の個展「NIPPON」を開催致します。2000年以上の歴史を持つとされる盆栽は、完成がなく、時代を経て何代へも受け継がれるまさに「究極のビンテージ」。自然という絶えず変化し続けるものがこれまで歩んできた道のりを、自然の厳しさと共に鉢に表現しています。作品に同じものは一つとしてなく、それぞれが強い生命力を感じさせてくれるでしょう。業界としては、盆栽を管理する後継者が年々減っている状況下にある中、「盆栽をもっと世界に広めていきたい」「若い人たちに興味を持って欲しい」という思いから、小島氏はアパレル業界から盆栽業界に転身し、「TRADMAN’S」として盆栽のプロデュースをスタートさせました。
盆栽文化を世代や国を越えて届けていきたい、今回の個展タイトルである「NIPPON」には小島氏のそんな思いも込められています。作品一つ一つに宿る生命力を小島氏の熱い思いと共にぜひ会場でお楽しみください。

THE ANZAI GALLERY is pleased to present "NIPPON", the first solo exhibition by a Japanese bonsai producer Teppei Kojima starting Saturday, July 30th. Bonsai, with a history of more than 2,000 years, embodies the ultimate vintage – Bonsai is to be passed down through generations, defining the legacy and beauty of Japanese tranquil yet zestful tradition.  Kojima genuinely wants to challenge the current given situation of the bonsai industry, in which fewer and fewer people get involved in making. In the mission to "promote bonsai culture to outside Japan" and "get more young people interested", Kojima left the fashion industry 12 years ago and entered the bonsai industry. Kojima and his team TRADMAN'S are now producing and presenting one of the finest bonsai works based in Japan.  The title of this exhibition, "NIPPON", also reflects Kojima’s passion for presenting bonsai culture beyond generations and countries. We sincerely hope you will enjoy your encounter with Kojima’s revolutionary bonsai work.
